Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole

Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, is the 11th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, a position he has held since October 2022. Born in Osun State, he began his academic journey at Ife Anglican Grammar School and Oduduwa College, Ile-Ife. He earned his LLB and LLM degrees from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1985.

In 1995, he founded his law firm, Wahab Egbewole & Co., and has made significant contributions to Nigerian jurisprudence, particularly in Constitutional Law, Law and Social Change, and Election Petitions. His expertise earned him the prestigious title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in 2018.

Professor Egbewole joined the University of Ilorin in 1997 and has held various leadership roles, including Acting Dean of Law and Director of the General Studies Division. He was appointed Professor of Jurisprudence and International Law in 2012.

He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Nigerian Bar Association, International Bar Association, and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK). A prolific researcher, he has published extensively and secured multiple research grants.

Beyond academia, Professor Egbewole is deeply committed to community development and has served in numerous leadership roles within his community. He is married to Hajia Muibat Egbewole, and they are blessed with children.
